The famous photographer Henrik Lundh once said, "If a photograph stirs the emotions in at least one person, that makes it art." I find this sentiment to be so true. To me, photography is all about evoking emotions in the viewer of the portrait. I find that by seeing the simple beauty in life, and capturing it in a photograph, emotion can be easily stirred in an individual. To me simple beauty can be found in a mother's gentle touch of her child, a baby's soft lips, or a child's genuine smile. I feel like my job has been accoplished when that beauty is captured on film, and is forever frozen in time. While in college, I began an in depth study of the physics of light, through the process of obtaining a doctorate degree in Optics. I enjoyed the challenge that came with learning how to understand light and its effects on the environment. After the birth of my first child, it was only natural then that I began to use what I had learned in an more artistic sense to capture the early moments of my daughter. To me photography was the perfect blend of technical expertise and artistry. Soon after beginning an in-depth study of children's portraiture, I decided to create Works of Love Photography. Life goes by so quickly. I strive to capture those moments in time that are so dear to us. It brings me great joy to see how my photographs evoks emotion in others. I hope I can do the same for you and your family and create a work of art for you. April |
